We are a group of four Israeli students, from different backgrounds, of different ages, and with different perspectives and beliefs about the Israeli – Palestinian conflict. We want to present the complexity of the conflict but we are aware that due to the fact that we are all Israeli, we can’t be completely objective even when we try to be.
As Israelis, we feel dissonance
we love our country, this is our home, the place we grew up in or decided to move to at a certain point in our lives – but often we feel disappointed by our country, let down by the political leaders. We are not going to justify all of Israel actions, Israel often acts in an unjust way and does a lot of wrongs but it does it not out of malicious intentions but because it feels this is the way to protect its citizens.
It’s not easy fighting against a terror organization and I know some of you will strongly oppose to us calling Hamas a terror organization, after all it’s a political organization that runs a social welfare program, operates a number of schools, hospitals and religious institutions. But it also dedicates itself to the destruction of Israel and uses violence toward civilians as an agenda. In order to complete its purpose they convince Palestinian youths to sacrifices their lives in a terror attack aimed against civilian Israelis even though, by doing this, will cause great suffering to many Palestinian families due to repercussions.
Our purpose is to reveal the injustices that both sides are doing to each other while trying to be as objective as we can, knowing it’s not completely possible.
We would love to hear what you think, even if it’s totally different from our perspective; we aim to create a more balanced dialog that will hopefully lead to a real dialog and with better communication, after all, communication is the most important thing in every relationship and what we feel is missing in the Israeli-Palestinian relationship.
Leave a comment, send us an email, write a post on our Facebook page – we care about what you think and we would be more than happy to hear your voice.
